Massive congratulations to Laura Reid who won the big book bundle. Please check back tomorrow for the next big picture book giveaway.

I cannot believe it has been a year since I had the crazy idea to open an online bookshop. It has been wonderful in so many ways and also challenging too. What I take from the year is how spectacularly supportive the book community are and I have a new found respect for many members of the community from teachers to writers, illustrators and much more. Not forgetting my amazing customers who want to buy the books I sell.

I’ve recently read ‘Invisible’ by Tom Percival. My class loved it and the message that we can all make a difference, when we work together was particularly good for returning to school after lockdown.

Barbara Sandison

Finished The Land of Roar, by Jenny McLachlan the other night.

- Hilarious, thrilling, endearing and relatable
- Roar is a beautifully realised, effortlessly fleshed out setting
- Love the brother / sister dynamics and Win cracks me up, easily one of the best supporting characters in years

Just started Mo, Lottie and the Junkers, by Jennifer Killick. 100 pages in and loving it. Funny, quirky and mysterious, with a great pair of lead characters – everything you would expect from the author of the fabulous Crater Lake!

Mark Smith

I’ve just finished reading ‘The Valley of Lost Secrets by Leslie Parr. What a fabulous children’s novel – my 9 year old loved how dark it was!

Claire Hennighan

I’ve just finished Vashti Hardy’s new book, Harley Hitch and the Iron Forest.

It’s a wonderful book featuring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects and also explores important subjects such as renewable sources and sustainability. I devoured it in one sitting!

Laura Roach

I finished Orphans of the Tide yesterday and loved it. Can’t wait to be back at school to pass it on to some of our Year 6s. I’ve just started Brand New Boy by David Almond today. I have very high hopes because Skellig is one of my all-time favourites!
